Principal
Mr. Powers is the Principal responsible for overseeing Astorino’s healthcare and research studio. At $1 billion in completed projects, Mr. Powers has worked to build a team of the best design talent dedicated to healthcare and research architecture. Under his leadership, Astorino’s practice has grown from its infancy in the early 1990s to be a regional and national leader, as evidenced by Astorino being consistently ranked as a leading healthcare design firm by Modern Healthcare magazine.
Over Mr. Powers’ 25 years of healthcare architecture experience, he has been a proponent of designing healing environments that truly meet the users’ needs and positively impact medical outcomes. This is best exemplified through his work on the newly completed, $625 million Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh which has been widely acclaimed for its innovative design approach that anticipates and responds to the deepest needs of each and every one of its users. Mr. Powers’ is often called upon to speak of his expertise in healthcare and has most recently spoken on this subject at the International Conference on Patient and Family Centered Care
Mr. Powers’ experience includes award-winning projects for a variety of healthcare facility types including Replacement Hospitals, Cancer Centers, Wellness Centers, Ambulatory Care Facilities, Research Facilities, Primary Care Facilities, Transplant Centers and Assisted Living Facilities.
